Talent, Hard Work and Patience— Sandeep Kundu, Taekwondo Champ.

We are living in an era where a person wants to achieve either money or name and fame. But, few are those who are able to get it. There's no doubt, that Hard work always pays off, but sometimes it's just a game of destiny or more of priority. We are here talking about a Taekwondo player Sandeep Kundu, whom we can call a Champion as well because what he has achieved is worth of it. Sandeep is Haryana-based Taekwondo player who is also a public servant. He is doing his job in Chandigarh Police as a constable. Sandeep has also been presented with the Bheem Award 2013-2014, for his die-hard piece of passion towards the Taekwondo.

When and How did you started Taekwondo?

I started playing Taekwondo in 1996, as it was my interest, and I wanted to make this passion to lead my way towards success. I started learning from his coach named Manoj Panchal, back then in 1996. Along with my career in Taekwondo, I started my job in Chandigarh police on November 01, 2008. I get into the Chandigarh Police with the General quota, as I have never believed anyone for my endeavors, instead I love to create my own ways and my own destiny. But, later when I knew my strength— the martial arts. And that was the only weapon of mine to fight with not only society, but with my own inner soul.

What have your achievements been so far?

In National Championship, I got 13 Gold, 1 Silver; Commonwealth Championship 2011- 1 Gold; South Asian Games 2010- 1 Gold; National Games- 2 Gold. Not only this, but I have played Asian Championship along with Asian Games 2006 and 2010. There was no ending, as I wanted to keep going, whether destiny supports me or not. Though I conquered Gold in many events, but tasted the defeat at the same. I also played Olympic Qualifying round in 2011, where I went to Quarter-final, but the day was not in my favor, and in result I tasted defeat. Last but not least, I have achieved Bheem Award 2013-2014.

Why haven't your name is highlighted till now?

I don't know the reason, but all I know is that I am having the most medals than anyone else in the whole Chandigarh police. Also, none of them have played that much tournaments that I have played. There's one more reason that I think has suffered me a lot, that at my time, there were not a lot of facilities. At that time, we use to practice in just slippers and by hitting our legs on trees. Likewise, is there could have this much facility back then, then I could have done a lot; not only for me, but for my country.

What's your message for the young generation?

There are a lot of facilities in this era, and I would say only one thing— Do hard work and achieve success. This is the era where jobs are easily available as in our time, jobs were not an easy hunt, hence we had to compromise with our wishes. Hence, take all the benefits as much as you can, because this time will never come back.
